Matheson is a consummate pro, and it shows in every story, regardless of genre or mood.

ricgard For the second time in as many tries, I was severely disappointed. There are few authors that have moved me to tears; Richard Matheson is one of those storytellers. So, naturally, when I heard that Real Steel was based on one of his short stories, I decided I needed to read said story and then see the film. He just has a way to making my skin crawl. Many of the stories are brief or richarf developed. The ocean calls numerous beachgoes to its depths in “Lemmings,” while a man finds himself in a parallel universe in “The Edge. Nine Dot Nine Mediaworx Pvt. And a wonderful investment it’s turned out to be, as all 13 tales in the collection are very pleasing affairs.

Several early entries all lead up to that twist or tweak of things that linger with you after the final paragraph is read. There were a few stories that I felt just fell flat on their endings, and a few more that seemed a little too long for what they were setting up as a mathedon.
